The Dorn Method
A gentle vertebra and joint treatment which can have a particular impact on concerns relating to the spinal column.
Firm pressure is applied to specific points while a person moves their joints or they are moved gently for them. This encourages (rather than forces) the muscles governing spine and other bone positions to release tension and thereby allow bones be restored to the locations and relationships nature intended. |

.
Which is why Dorn has proven very beneficial for those suffering with
| headaches | back pain | kidney problems
|
| sciatica | scoliosis | lordosis |
| kyphosis | leg length differences
| titled pelvis
|
| uneven bites | shoulder issues | restricted joints |
What's involved in a session?
Are there contraindications?
Yes. Even though Dorn is a gentle therapy the pressure used can be quite firm at times. Therefore it is not suitable for those
- on medication which contains ingredients which can reduce or affect bone density (e.g. cortisone, fluoride);
- with osteoporosis which has reached the surface of the bone
- with inflammed joints or bone infections.
Outside of those instances Dorn should be suitable for most people. However, during sessions if your body is telling you - or your therapist - that it has had enough for one day then a session might finish earlier than anticipated.
Anything else?
Depending on your specific concerns you may be shown exercises to carry out at home, after driving etc. These can help assure the long-term success of session work. In fact some, while appearing simple, can have such a powerful effect that doing them may mean no more than one or two follow-up sessions would be needed!
How much does it cost?
Seán Callagy is currently training as a Dorn therapist and Breuss Masseur. To fully qualify he needs to work on no less than 100 bad backs, knees, ankles etc! So this could be your chance to try out this remarkable therapy at an amazing price. Because, until he is qualified, he will not be charging full fees (c. €80). Instead he will be accepting donations based on the on-going costs involved at his end. Specifically these are:
- room rental
- insurance
- massage oil and paper
- cleaning of towels
- travel to, from and at several training events (his next one is April 17th-19th
- his time with you (estimated to be between 1 and 1.5 hours including your Breuss massage)
So, as long as you are prepared to make a reasonable donation toward those costs, he would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
How many sessions?
It all depends on how ready your body is to respond to the work. In most instances people make considerable progress in 4 to 5 sessions. If they are diligent in doing the exercises suggested they can greatly accelerate progress - and if they continue them into the future may forestall the need for repeat visits.
How do I book?
You can book a Dorn session (with Breuss massage) at the Wine Street Wellness Centre (Wednesday mornings only) by ringing 071-9153828.
